According to the May 7, 2019, U.S. Drought Monitor, moderate to severe drought covers 2.5% of the United States, a slight decrease from last week’s 2.6%. The worst drought categories (extreme to exceptional drought) was at 0% for the seventh week in a row.
Abnormal dryness and drought are currently affecting over 25 million people across the United States—about 8.2% of the country’s population.
